FDP Highlights
A five day (One week) faculty development program was organized by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow at Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology, Meerut bypass NH-58. The subject of which was “Traditional and artificial intelligence based training program on handling and care of laboratory animals. The program was inaugurated by chief guest, Vice- chancellor, professor Vinay Kumar pathak, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU),Joint director of food safety and standards Authority of India, New Delhi Dr. Vijay pal Singh, Professor Surendra Singh from AIIMS, Vishnu sharan, Chairman, MIET, Vice chairman Puneet Aggarwal, Director Dr. Mayank garg, Dean Academic Dr. D.K. Sharma, FDP coordinator Dr. Nitin Sharma lightened the ceremonial lamp.
We had other eminent professors from National/ International organizations also took part in the FDP and it included Prof.Bikash Medhi, PGIMER , Chandigarh , Dr. Deepti kakkar, INMAS, Delhi, Dr. P. Nagarajan, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, Dr. Chandragouda R. Patil, DPSRU, New Delhi, Prof. Direndra Kaushik, Gurugram University.
Dr. Vijay pal Singh, Joint director of FSSAI, spoke about proper evaluation of medicines on animals for pre-clinical trials before being given to humans and also told about the best selection criteria of animal model for research with additional care regarding animals.
Prof. Surendra Singh, AIIMS said that for the first time when a disease appears, new medicines are tested for its treatment. Testing of drugs during treatment is called a clinical trial. Each step of clinical trial should be highly optimized. As per the survey records, India alone has five percent of the ongoing worldwide clinical trials.
Around 275 faculties from various institute has participated in FDP.
